Judea:

a region south of Samaria and west of the Dead Sea.

The principal city was Jerusalem. The name is from the tribe of Judah, which had settled in that area. Under the prophet King David, it became the Kingdom of Judah. At the time of the Messah, it was a district within the Roman province of Iudaea.
