salvation: 

rescue from destruction.

The word "salvation" is used in the Gospel for the benefits that people receive when they repent and believe in Jesus the Messiah. This means that God rescues them from a life of sin, he forgives their sins, he purifies their hearts, he immerses them in his Holy Spirit so they can be born anew by the Spirit, and he produces in them “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22). Likewise God assures them that when they die, they will go to his kingdom in heaven, which is called Paradise, and that they will be safe from his wrath on the Day of Resurrection and will live forever in his eternal kingdom on a new earth. Full salvation will come at the resurrection, when the people of God will begin to experience eternal life in full on the new earth, where there is no longer any corruption or evil desires (2 Peter 3:13) and no death, crying, or pain (Revelation 21:4) but only righteousness, peace, and joy (Romans 14:17; 2 Peter 1:4).
