John 15
الكرمة والأغصان
1 ”أَنَا هُوَ الْكَرْمَةُ الْحَقِيقِيَّةُ، وَأَبِي هُوَ الْكَرَّامُ. 2 كُلُّ غُصْنٍ فِيَّ لَا يُثْمِرُ يَقْطَعُهُ، وَكُلُّ غُصْنٍ يُثْمِرُ يُنَقِّيهِ* لِكَيْ يُثْمِرَ أَكْثَرَ. 3 أَنْتُمُ الْآنَ أَنْقِيَاءُ بِفَضْلِ الْكَلَامِ الَّذِي قُلْتُهُ لَكُمْ. 4 اُثْبُتُوا فِيَّ كَمَا أَثْبُتُ فِيكُمْ. وَكَمَا أَنَّ الْغُصْنَ لَا يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يُثْمِرَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ إِنْ لَمْ يَثْبُتْ فِي الْكَرْمَةِ، فَأَنْتُمْ أَيْضًا لَا تَقْدِرُونَ أَنْ تُثْمِرُوا إِنْ لَمْ تَثْبُتُوا فِيَّ.
The Vine and the Branches
1 “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in me that does not produce fruit, he cuts off. And every branch that produces fruit, he prunes* so that it produces more fruit. 3 You are now clean, thanks to the message that I have spoken to you. 4 Remain rooted in me just as I remain rooted in you. Just as the branch can't produce fruit on its own unless it remains rooted in the grapevine, so you also can't produce fruit unless you remain rooted in me.
5 ”أَنَا الْكَرْمَةُ، وَأَنْتُمُ الْأَغْصَانُ. مَنْ يَثْبُتُ فِيَّ وَأَنَا فِيهِ يُثْمِرُ ثَمَرًا كَثِيرًا، لِأَنَّكُمْ بِدُونِي لَا تَقْدِرُونَ أَنْ تَعْمَلُوا شَيْئًا. 6 مَنْ لَا يَثْبُتُ فِيَّ، يُرْمَى بَعِيدًا كَغُصْنٍ* فَيَذْبُلُ. وَالْأَغْصَانُ الذَّابِلَةُ تُجْمَعُ وَتُرْمَى فِي النَّارِ وَتُحْرَقُ. 7 إِنْ ثَبَتُّمْ فِيَّ وَثَبَتَ كَلَامِي فِيكُمْ، فَاطْلُبُوا مَا تُرِيدُونَ فَتَنَالُوهُ. 8 بِهَذَا يَتَمَجَّدُ أَبِي: أَنْ تُثْمِرُوا ثَمَرًا كَثِيرًا، فَيَظْهَرَ أَنَّكُمْ تَلَامِيذِي.
5 “I am the vine, and you are the branches. Anyone who remains rooted in me and I in him produces much fruit, because without me, you cannot do anything. 6 Anyone who does not remain rooted in me will be thrown away like a branch* and will wither. Then the withered branches will be gathered and thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain rooted in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and you will receive it. 8 My Father is glorified in this: that you produce much fruit, showing that you are my disciples.
9 ”كَمَا أَحَبَّنِي الْأَبُ، أَنَا أَيْضًا أَحْبَبْتُكُمْ، فَاثْبُتُوا فِي مَحَبَّتِي. 10 إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ بِوَصَايَايَ تَثْبُتُونَ فِي مَحَبَّتِي، كَمَا أَنِّي أَعْمَلُ بِوَصَايَا أَبِي وَأَثْبُتُ فِي مَحَبَّتِهِ. 11 قُلْتُ لَكُمْ هَذَا، لِتَفْرَحُوا مِثْلِي، فَيَكُونَ فَرَحُكُمْ كَامِلًا. 12 هَذِهِ هِيَ وَصِيَّتِي: أَحِبُّوا بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا كَمَا أَحْبَبْتُكُمْ. 13 لَا تُوجَدُ مَحَبَّةٌ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ الْوَاحِدُ بِنَفْسِهِ مِنْ أَجْلِ أَحِبَّائِهِ.
9 “As the Father has loved me, I also have loved you, so remain rooted in my love. 10 If you have been doing what I commanded, you remain rooted in my love, just as I do what my Father has commanded and remain rooted in his love. 11 I have said this to you so that you may be as joyful as I am, and that your joy may be complete. 12 This is my commandment: Love one another just as I have loved you. 13 No greater love can be found than for someone to sacrifice his life for the sake of his friends.
14 ”إِنْ عَمِلْتُمْ بِوَصَايَايَ فَأَنْتُمْ أَحِبَّائِي. 15 أَنَا لَا أَدْعُوكُمْ عَبِيدًا بَعْدَ الْآنَ، لِأَنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَا يَعْرِفُ مَا يَعْمَلُ سَيِّدُهُ. إِنَّمَا دَعَوْتُكُمْ أَحِبَّائِي، لِأَنِّي عَرَّفْتُكُمْ بِكُلِّ مَا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ أَبِي. 16 أَنْتُمْ لَمْ تَخْتَارُونِي، أَنَا الَّذِي اخْتَرْتُكُمْ وَعَيَّنْتُكُمْ لِتَذْهَبُوا وَتُثْمِرُوا ثَمَرًا يَدُومُ، فَيُعْطِيَكُمُ الْأَبُ كُلَّ مَا تَطْلُبُونَهُ بِاسْمِي.* 17 فَهَذِهِ هِيَ وَصِيَّتِي لَكُمْ: أَحِبُّوا بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا.
14 “If you do the things I've commanded, then you are my friends. 15 I won't call you servants after this, because a servant doesn't know what his master is doing; but I have called you my friends because I've made known to you everything I heard from my Father. 16 You didn't choose me; I chose you and appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you everything you request in my name.* 17 So then, this is my commandment to you: Love one another.

18 ”إِنْ كَرِهَكُمُ الْعَالَمُ، فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّهُ كَرِهَنِي قَبْلَ مَا يَكْرَهُكُمْ. 19 لَوْ كُنْتُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعَالَمِ، لَكَانَ الْعَالَمُ يُحِبُّكُمْ كَأَهْلِهِ. لَكِنْ أَنَا اخْتَرْتُكُمْ مِنَ الْعَالَمِ، فَأَنْتُمْ لَسْتُمْ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ، وَهَذَا هُوَ السَّبَبُ أَنَّهُ يَكْرَهُكُمْ. 20 تَذَكَّرُوا مَا قُلْتُهُ لَكُمْ: ’لَيْسَ الْعَبْدُ أَعْظَمَ مِنْ سَيِّدِهِ‘، إِنْ كَانُوا قَدِ اضْطَهَدُونِي فَسَيَضْطَهِدُونَكُمْ أَنْتُمْ أَيْضًا، وَإِنْ كَانُوا قَدْ عَمِلُوا بِكَلَامِي فَسَيَعْمَلُونَ بِكَلَامِكُمْ أَنْتُمْ أَيْضًا. 21 وَهُمْ يَفْعَلُونَ كُلَّ هَذَا بِكُمْ بِسَبَبِ اسْمِي، لِأَنَّهُمْ لَا يَعْرِفُونَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَنِي.
The World Hates the Followers of Jesus
18 “If the world hates you, know that it hated me before hating you. 19 If you belonged to the people of the world, the world would love you as some of its own people, but I have chosen you out of the world, so you're no longer some of its people, and this is the reason it hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘The servant is not greater than his master.’ If they have persecuted me, then they will persecute you as well. If they have been doing what I told [them], they will do what you tell [them] as well. 21 They will do all this to you because of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.
22 ”لَوْ لَمْ أَكُنْ قَدْ جِئْتُ وَكَلَّمْتُهُمْ، لَمَا كَانَ عَلَيْهِمْ ذَنْبٌ. لَكِنِ الْآنَ لَا عُذْرَ لَهُمْ فِي ذَنْبِهِمْ. 23 مَنْ يَكْرَهُنِي يَكْرَهُ أَبِي أَيْضًا. 24 لَوْ لَمْ أَكُنْ قَدْ عَمِلْتُ مَعَهُمْ مُعْجِزَاتٍ لَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا غَيْرِي، لَمَا كَانَ عَلَيْهِمْ ذَنْبٌ. لَكِنَّهُمْ رَأَوْا مُعْجِزَاتِي، وَكَرِهُونِي أَنَا وَأَبِي. 25 وَبِذَلِكَ تَمَّ الْقَوْلُ الْوَارِدُ فِي كِتَابِهِمْ: ’كَرِهُونِي بِلَا سَبَبٍ.‘*
22 “If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Anyone who hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I hadn't done miracles among them that no one else had done, they wouldn't be guilty, but they saw my miracles, and they hated me and my Father. 25 And this fulfilled the statement in their Scriptures: ‘They hated me for no reason.’*
26 ”وَمَتَى جَاءَ الْمُعِينُ* الَّذِي أُرْسِلُهُ لَكُمْ مِنْ عِنْدِ الْأَبِ، رُوحُ الْحَقِّ الَّذِي يَأْتِي مِنَ الْأَبِ، هُوَ يَشْهَدُ لِي. 27 وَأَنْتُمْ أَيْضًا تَشْهَدُونَ لِي، لِأَنَّكُمْ مَعِي مِنَ الْأَوَّلِ.
26 “When the Helper* comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth who comes from the Father, he will bear witness about me. 27 You also will bear witness about me, because you have been with me from the beginning.

Definitions
*15:2 prunes To prune a branch means to remove the parts of it that don't produce fruit, so that the parts that remain will produce more fruit. We can also speak of “pruning” harmful and unnecessary activities from one's life.
*15:26 الْمُعِينُ: هذه ترجمة الكلمة اليونانية paraklētos (پاراكليتُس)، التي تعني الشخص الذي يرافق شخصًا آخر لإرشاده وتشجيعه وتقويته. هذه إشارة إلى روح الحقّ، وهو اسم آخر لروح الله القدوس. انظر بشارة يوحنّا 14:16.
*15:26 Helper: This is a translation the Greek word paraklētos, which means a person who comes alongside someone to guide him, encourage him, and strengthen him. The is a reference to the Spirit of Truth, which is another name for God's Holy Spirit. See John 14:16.
