tomb: 

a room in a cemetery in which one or more dead bodies are buried.

At the time of the Messiah, most tombs were caves that people had dug out of the rock of a hillside. Each tomb had an entrance that was opened or closed with a large rolling stone, shaped like a wheel. Most of these tombs could hold several bodies, placed there at different times, each in its own place. A year or so later, people would put the bones in a small container. Today, most people bury the dead in holes dug in the ground and cover them with dirt. In English, these holes are called "graves."
