The Pool of Bethesda

This pool was built in the Beth Zetha Valley, just north of the Temple Complex in Jerusalem. The northern part of the pool was built in the 8th century BC and provided water for the city. The southern pool was built in the 2nd century BC and was slightly lower. Sick people waited under the porticoes of this pool in hope of being healed. Our Lord Jesus healed a man at this pool who had been sick for 38 years, but it made the religious leaders angry at him. See John 5.
