Portico of Solomon

A portico is a covered walkway. The Portico of Solomon was a long, covered hall in the outer court of the Temple complex, open on one side, with a roof supported by two rows of columns. It was built by the prophet King Solomon. It extended along the eastern side of the Temple complex and included two rows of columns, a long row on its western side, and another row in the middle. The eastern wall was 260 meters long and was adorned with works of art. It would have looked like the ancient portico in the photo below.
