treasury:

a building or room where a government or temple stores its money and valuable objects.

One section of the Temple complex in Jerusalam was called "the Treasury." It consisted of a courtyard, called "the Court of Women," surrounded by three porticoes. In the porticoes there were offering boxes in which people could give money for the Temple of God. People gathered in the courtyard to pray to God, facing the Temple, and to listen to men singing Psalms of David while standing on the steps of the gateway to the Temple.
