the Temple complex:

the collection of buildings that included the Temple of God, which used to stand on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

The complex included the Temple of God itself and the courtyards and associated buildings that surrounded it. The Temple complex was the central place of worship for all the Children of Israel and for others who believed in God. They brought sacrifices and offerings there, which the priests offered to God on an altar in the innermost courtyard. That courtyard was surrounded by three more courtyards, with additional buildings. In these courtyards, a choir sang Psalms in praise of God, people prayed, scholars taught religion, and people discussed topics of interest. See also Temple of God and Temple interior.
