people whom God has chosen, empowered, and sent off to spread his message and to advance his Kingdom on the earth.

The twelve apostles of the Good News whom our Lord Jesus chose are also known in Arabic as الحَواريِّونَ al-hawariyyun. Jesus the Messiah referred to himself as sent from God (Luke 10:16; John 13:20; 14:24), and he is called the apostle of our faith (Hebrews 3:1).
